The results of one new study indicates that Briton men and women are not as predictable when it comes to dating as you might have thought. While most people associate finding a date with finding someone they are attracted to the study, done by Humboldt University, shows that there are many more factors at play when it comes to how people choose potential mates. The study focused on internet UK date sites and revealed that someone’s name may actually have something to do with how attractive you may find them.

The study, which was conducted using 47,000 test subject, reveals that men found women who were named something like Mandy, Celina, Chantal or Jacqueline to be less appealing than if they were named something else. Likewise, when it came to women they were less likely to want to meet someone who was named Marvin, Dennis or Justin were less appealing to female Britons.

When it came to women they preferred strong names such as Peter, Mark, Max and Alexander. Men also had their preference as to what names were the most appealing to them. Men were found to like the names Emma, Charlotte, Hannah and Marie more than any other name when dating in UK.

Daters that had more likeable first names were 102% more likely to get a date than those people who had less desirable names. The survey went on to explain that for some reason people would rather stay single than meet or date someone with a less attractive name that they could not see. Since the study was done using only names and no pictures the results show that one’s name may have more to do with finding a date than you might believe. However, that is not to say you should be discouraged from trying to find a date on UKDate.com.
